Happy birthday to Preston!

Today is Preston's 11th birthday.  He's the cute guy on the left pictured here with his cute brother Parker.

I can't believe he's 11 already.  These years are flying by!!

Our anniversary!

We "celebrated" our 45th anniversary on Saturday.  By "celebrate" I mean we went out to a very nice dinner.

We ate at Woody's.  We're more the fish and steakhouse restaurant in the country type people, but it was nice to eat somewhere that's "fancy" for us.  Ha!

It's hard to believe it's been 45 years.  I don't even feel 45 years old!!

Congratulations to Paige!

My sweet niece graduated from law school in May and passed the bar on her very first try!

Both are huge accomplishments!

She is already working as a public defender for the State of Alabama in Tuscaloosa!

I'm so proud of this girl I could bust!!

Happy First Day of Fall!

My favorite time of year!  I am so enjoying this beautiful weather we've had lately.

I had lunch with friends Betty and Marie yesterday to celebrate Betty's birthday.  Betty lost her husband to cancer recently so we wanted to help make her day special.

Shortly after her husband's death, she got this shiny new-to-her bug.

They had a big SUV before and it was just too big for Betty.  This new bug fits her perfectly.  She has always loves convertibles and I know she'll love tooling around in this!

It's always hard to make changes but I'm so glad Betty is happily going on with her life.

Weekend stuff!

We had a good weekend starting it off by celebrating National Cheeseburger Day on Friday with burgers at Hardin's.

Actually just about every day is cheeseburger day for Doug!  He loves them and Hardin's are especially good.

Saturday morning at 9:00 Cameron had a football game.  We were there to cheer him on!

They played a good game and now have an undefeated record of 3-0!

After the game we drove over to Pontotoc for the Bodock festival and car show.

In previous years there have been some great craft and jewelry booths.  I was disappointed that there weren't many this year.  I had a nice lunch with some friends while Doug stayed at the car show so still it was fun!

We watched our two Mississippi football teams win good games Saturday night so it was a pretty good day!  (Sorry to all my Alabama relatives...I was rooting for the Tide!)

Today is my brother's birthday.  He's been gone quite a few years but I always think about him on his birthday.  Carolyn, how old would Jimmy be today?

MSU Corn Hole Game

Doug picked up an MSU corn hole game at our new Academy Sports that opened recently.  Doug had considered making some but these were much cheaper than he could make them!  The "kids" couldn't wait to try it out!

Always a competition but fun for all!

Roll Tide and Poor Little Bullet!

Saturday was such a fun day!  We picked up Emma Taylor's friend K.K. and Heather, Harrison and I headed to Tuscaloosa to do some tailgating before the Alabama game.  We met Karen, Kaydee and Luke at the tailgate spot and set out the food.

We had quite a spread!  I think we need a bigger table!

The boys played football in the adjacent field while we got everything ready.  Harrison was in heaven playing football with Jake, Ty and some of Courtney's friends.

K.K. and Emma Taylor were their cheerleaders!

Justin, Jake and Ty joined us shortly after we got there.  I snapped a few photos before we ate.  By this time Courtney, Paige and Morgan had joined us.

We have a photobomber in this picture!

We didn't have tickets to the game, but we hopped on the shuttle bus and headed over to the Quad for a little pre-game excitement!

K.K. and Emma Taylor were ready with their Alabama "A" on their face!  Everybody was an Alabama fan today!

The kids were waiting for the band to go by.

There comes Big Al!

ET and K.K. with one of the beautiful majorettes.

The band came by chanting "Roll Tide."

It was really cool to see them...the Million Dollar Band!  Wish we could have heard them play!

On our way to the stadium, there were lots of people selling tickets.  Karen very generously bought two tickets so Harrison and Heather could go in.  Harrison really wanted to see the game, or at least part of it!

How cool was that??

The girls wanted a few pictures taken on campus.  K.K.'s family are Ole Miss fans but her uncle is an Alabama fan.  Her mom wanted her to have some pictures taken and text them to her uncle so he could see she was on the Alabama campus.

Here they are in front of the Bear Bryant statue.

Karen, the girls and I were sitting on the wall here and a man came along and gave us two free tickets to the game.  Wow, that was nice, though I'm sure he was ready to go in the game, couldn't sell the tickets, and dumped them.  We sure appreciated it!

We gave them to the girls so they could go in.

Doesn't that look fun?

None of them stayed too long.  They said it was hot.  Actually it was an absolutely gorgeous day...perfect for football.

On our way back to the tailgate spot, we saw a pig on a leash.  You just never know what you'll see in the Quad!  The girls wanted to stop and pet it.  Its name was Pickles.

It was such a fun day spending time with family.  Cameron had a football game Saturday morning so he missed all the fun, though he got to spend the night with his friend Russ so he was happy too.

We headed home and on the way the girls pulled off their Alabama stickers only to find they had a little suntan which left the "A" on their cheeks.

What a nice souvenir of a fun day!

We had to have Bullet's eye removed yesterday.  He had an eye infection and Doug took him to the vet last Friday.  He's been putting antibiotic in it since then but his eyeball ruptured over the weekend so it had to be removed.  He seems fine and is adjusting to it.

His stitches will come out next week and hopefully the cone can be removed at the same time.  It breaks my heart for him but I know he'll be okay.  It probably hurts Doug and me more than it does him!

Grandparents Day!

Hope you all had a happy Grandparents Day!  Had it not been for Facebook, we wouldn't have known about it!

Heather and Ben planned dinner for us.  Ben cooked up some steaks and pork chops, mushrooms, grilled asparagus, green beans and cheesy potatoes.  He even shopped for the food!  Heather did the clean up!

Thankfully it has cooled off a bit 'cause grilling is a hot job!

The best part of any Grandparents Day is spending time with the Grands!

Aren't we lucky!!

My Kitchen Helper!

I love it when she cooks dinner for us.  Barbecue meatballs and they were yummy!

I also love it that she has interest in cooking.  That will serve her well in the future!

The boys were practicing their yoga moves while she cooked.

Crazy boys!

Cameron brought his art project home from school yesterday.

It's frame worthy!  He was very proud of it and we were impressed!

Labor Day Weekend!

Let me first wish my niece Kathy a belated happy birthday.  Her birthday was Saturday.  Hope she had a fantastic day!!

Heather and I went to Florence on Saturday where we met up with Karen at Kaydee's house.  We had lunch at our favorite place, Ricotoni's.  Luke joined us for lunch and I think he ate more ravoli than Kaydee did!

Quite a mess but he enjoyed every bite!

He is ready for the Alabama game that came on later that evening.

He is such a delight!

We made a run to Target and TJMaxx, then time to head home so we could catch the Mississippi State game.  Since it didn't come on until 9:00 p.m.!, I only stayed awake until halftime.  The first half was very sloppy but in the end we won and I guess that's all that counts!

Sunday afternoon Heather and I went to see The War Room.  It was a great movie about the power of prayer.  I love these verses in the Bible.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."  The theater was packed and it was the #1 movie for the weekend.  Pretty good for a Christian movie!

Yesterday was the Tammy Wynette Legacy Park Day.  It's a car show in little Tremont, MS to raise money for a Tammy Wynette museum.  There were 81 cars there which is very respectable for such a small town.  Doug won $25 which paid him back for the entrance fee!  I mostly sat under and tent with friends to keep out of the heat!

We grilled burgers and hot dogs with the kids that evening and called it a day!
