Tennessee Aquarium

Quick update on my kitchen before I recap the aquarium.  The island was painted yesterday.  I love the dark brown, almost black.  I'm so glad I went with it!

The painter is back this morning to put another coat of paint on everything.  The dark floor sample is what we have decided to go with for the floor.  It's dark so I hope I love it!

It was predicted to be a rainy day on the Monday we were in Chattanooga so we planned to do the aquarium.

The aquarium is amazing!  The kids loved it but the adults enjoyed it just as much.  The kids petted the stingrays.  They were told to use just two fingers.  They were soft but kind of slimy.

It was a very hands-on exhibit.

Next was a butterfly garden.  Another hands-on exhibit.

I took tons of fish pictures but I'll spare you every one and just post a few.

Looks like Emma Taylor is kissing the penguin.  We loved the penguins!

The aquarium is divided into two buildings.  One is River Journey and the other is Ocean Journey.  We finished the River Journey and decided to walk 8 blocks to a restaurant that Ben had heard was good.  At the time we left the Aquarium the skies were sunny.  As luck would have it, the further we walked the darker the sky got.  We got to the restaurant only to find it was closed for kitchen repairs!!

We started our walk back to a different restaurant and the bottom dropped out.  Heather was the only one with a raincoat.  Of course, my raincoat was in the car back at the aquarium!

We stopped under a store awning and called a cab to take us to Cheeburger Cheeburger which is right by the aquarium.

The kids loved the "cars" their lunch was served in.

There are lots of restaurants a short distance from the aquarium.  Next time I think we'll opt for one of those!

More aquarium pictures.

That is one huge octopus!

More jellyfish than I've ever seen, all different kinds.

Ben and Jerry's was right across the street from the Aquarium so we HAD to stop!

Then back to the hotel for a swim before dinner at Mellow Mushroom.  Another fun day!
