Backsplash

A quick update on my kitchen.  I'm so glad to finally have it finished!!

You can already see the fingerprints on the microwave.  I'm just going to have to ignore them for now!

Still working on putting the rest of the house together.

Cameron had his first ballgame last night.  Ben is helping coach the team.

Cameron had a great game.  He hit a homerun his very first time up at bat!  The game ended in a tie 7-7.  They would probably have played another inning to break the tie but it was 8:30 by this time and close to bedtime for most of the kids.

Hope you all have a delightful weekend!

The Incline in Chattanooga

On our last day in Chattanooga, after Lookout Mountain, we went to ride the Incline.  It's supposed to be the world's steepest incline.

We also rode this when we were there in 1989.

Oh my!

We rode the incline down, had lunch at a little Mexican place across the street, then rode back up.

It was kind of cheezy but kind of a Chattanooga must do!

We then stopped by the Chattanooga Choo Choo.

Really not much to see there and we didn't stay long.

The kids found the huge checkers and chess set interesting.

Then time to head home!  Thankfully I've wrapped up my Chattanooga trip!

We had a painter and carpenter here all day yesterday.  Doug called the contractor and jacked him up so they spent the whole day here and got most everything done.  I have spent today trying to get my house back together.  It's not just putting things away, it's cleaning everything.  It takes a lot of time and a lot of energy!

I'll try to post pictures of my kitchen tomorrow.  I LOVE it!!

Feeling overwhelmed!

I'm beginning to feel overwhelmed with this remodel.  The floor is finally finished and looking beautiful...or at least it will when it's cleaned!  Everything in my house has a layer of dust and will need to be cleaned.  I'm finding little chips of wood everywhere from the floor being taken up.  As of yesterday, this is what my house still looked like.

So you can see the reason for my frustration!

The painter is here this morning finishing up the baseboards.  Yesterday the guy was supposed to come and install the backsplash but he was a no show.  Men are in and out of my house all day long it seems or I'm waiting for them to show up!

Okay, enough of that!!

In between all of this I've been at the ball field watching Harrison play baseball on Saturday, Monday and yesterday.

He's doing a great job and every year I think he enjoys it more.

I also started on a little chalk paint project.  This table was a dark brown wood that was banged and nicked up.

The corbels are getting a coat of white too.

I just have to wax them and put a coat of dark wax on them.  I'll try to remember to post a picture when they are finished.

My poor yard also needs a lot of work but the flowers are beginning to bloom and look so pretty!

They are the bright spot in this stressful time!

That's about all for today!

Emma Taylor's Archery Banquet

Heather and Emma Taylor went to Emma Taylor's archery banquet on Tuesday evening.  Emma Taylor had a really great year in archery and seemed to improve greatly at each competition.  The entire team did very well in the State competition and I think came in second in the state.

Heather snapped this picture just before they headed to the banquet.

She looks so old...hard to believe she'll be 13 in June!

She received a medal from her coach, Mrs. Conwill.

Emma Taylor and good friend Lee Ellen who was also on the team.

I hope she continues to enjoy archery!  It seems to be a very good sport for her.

The floor was finished yesterday and the carpenters should be here this morning to put the trim back around and finish up a few things.  They were supposed to be here at 7:30.  It's now 8:15 and they aren't here.  This is what's so frustrating!  Hopefully by the weekend they will be completely finished.  The floor looks great and I couldn't be happier with it!

Last day in Chattanooga

The flooring guys should be finishing up today with just a few little things left to do.  It is so exciting to see the floor finished!  Now if we can get the contractor back to finish up a few things I think we will be ready to start cleaning and putting things back where they belong.  I will have my work cut out for me!

I wanted to finish up our trip to Chattanooga over spring break.

On day 3 our first stop was Rock City.  We got an early start that morning.

We promised Emma Taylor a stop at Starbucks and as luck would have it, there was one right at the entrance of Rock City!

Everyone was a happy camper!

  Getting started on the hike.

Fat Man's Squeeze.

The kids loved making flattened pennies.

Not much has changed since we were there years ago.  It was a lot of fun for all of us.

Some of you got a kick out of the old pictures I posted from our family trip to Chattanooga in 1989 so I thought I'd post a few from Rock City.

Here we are standing in almost the same spot as the pictures above.  This further documents that I've never had a good hair day in my life!

Fat Man's Squeeze.

Here's another cute picture from a trip to Chattanooga with my mom and dad in the summer of 1967.  I know the photo says 1968 but I guess it took me a long time to afford to have the film developed!

The little girl in the pigtails with the cap on is my little sister Karen!
