Last week...

Last week was a busy week.  Our friends Sherry and Larry arrived on Monday evening and spent a few days with us.

One of those days we drove to the Mississippi Delta, about a two hour drive.  First stop was lunch at Ground Zero in Clarksdale.  Morgan Freeman is half owner and the mayor of Clarksdale owns the other half and happened to be having lunch there that day. 

It's not a fancy place!  You can tell that by looking at the front door!

The inside is pretty cool though.

We had an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and lunch was pretty good too!

Everything in this area is about the blues.  Love this sign!

We drove over to the old Hopson Plantation which is now the Shack Up Inn.  It would be quite an experience to stay there.  The old shacks where the workers lived are now "hotel" rooms.

We were able to go inside one of these shacks a few years ago and they are pretty rustic inside too!



I think we'll take a pass on staying there!

After that interesting tour, we headed to Mound Bayou to see Peter's Pottery.  This is where the pottery is made and they have a resale shop there.

It's a family owned and run business.  I love their pottery and have several pieces.

Then we drove to Marigold where McCarty Pottery is made.

Then time to head home but what a fun day!

After 12 years of driving my Jeep, it was time to get a new one.  This is the first time in over 25 years that I haven't driven a black vehicle!

I haven't driven it much yet.  Still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles!  I think the keyless start is going to take a little getting used to!  I just hope it's as good a car as my last Jeep was.  Ben has graciously taken the old Jeep off my hands!

A Beautiful Easter!

It was a beautiful Easter Sunday.  The sun was shining and it was low 80s...just perfect!

Doug and I went to early church so we were home early enough for me to get dinner ready.  I cooked most of the day on Saturday so it was just a matter of getting everything in the oven and putting the finishing touches on everything. 

Lunch got a thumbs up from Cameron!

After lunch the adults hid Easter eggs and the kids waited patiently (or not so patiently) until they were released for the hunt.

We took some family pictures, of course.

Our friends Sherry and Larry will be coming to visit tomorrow and will be staying a few days.  Looking forward to seeing them!

Coloring Easter Eggs!

Harrison, Cameron and I had a fun day together on Friday since they were off school.

We started with a bite of lunch at the food court in the mall, then over to see the Smurfs.

After the movie, we made a stop at Starbucks for something cold.

Then it was home to color Easter eggs.

When our kids were little Doug always mixed all the colors for the last egg and usually it turned out brown.  The grands have continued this tradition.

This time though it turned out a beautiful mix of green and purple!

The finished products.  They each had a dozen.

They are now deviled eggs for lunch tomorrow!

After coloring the eggs, the boys stuffed candy and money in plastic eggs for the egg hunt tomorrow.

The table is all set.

Most of the food is prepared.  Heather, Ben and their families will be here, plus Randy's mom, stepfather and sister.  We are ready to celebrate our risen Savior tomorrow!

Spring!

How I love spring...but there is so much to be done!  Doug has been busy pressure washing the house and patio.  I have washed every window.  Doug was gone from Wednesday 'til Sunday and I got so much done outside.  It seems we clean and the pollen is right back where we just cleaned!  Things are really popping out though!

I know I've posted pictures of this clematis before but it's so pretty and huge!

This one is smaller but I love the purple.

While Doug was gone, I went to Tuscaloosa to visit this little guy (and his momma!). 

He was such a good boy while I was there.  All he wanted to do was sleep!  Courtney says he's a really good baby. 

Ben and Cameron invited me out to dinner one night.  We went to Outback, one of Cameron's favorite places.  He eats like a champ when we go there and we ended the meal with this.

Three spoons and we still couldn't eat it all! 

I'm off to the beauty shop for a little touch-up!

Duncan

Duncan came home from the hospital last Monday but by Thursday he was back in the hospital with jaundice.  You can imagine how difficult that was for first-time parents! 

Before he went back to the hospital he had his newborn pictures taken.

How sweet this mother/son picture is!

He only had to spend one night in the hospital and was home the next day.  He's doing fine now and all are relieved!

I plan to go over Wednesday and spend the day with them.  I can hardly wait to get my hands on him!

Ben gave Cameron a summer haircut on Saturday.  It's what Cameron wanted.

He knows I don't like his hair that short but he marches to his own drummer.  I agree that it will be much cooler for summer and baseball.

Rainy day here but the weather was beautiful all weekend!  Can't complain about that!
