Visiting Aunt Helen

Yesterday Doug and I took a ride to Jackson, TN to visit my Aunt Helen, cousin Charlotte and her husband J.V.  Aunt Helen just turned 95 a few weeks ago.  Aunt Helen is also sharp as a tack, like my Aunt Ethel.  She works crossword puzzles, word searches and puts together puzzles.  She loves Wheel-of-Fortune and is a very good puzzle solver.  It's so good to see her still enjoying life at her age.  I hope I am so blessed!

Aunt Helen is my mother's only living sibling.  It was nice to have an opportunity to ask her some questions about her childhood.  Things sure have changed a lot in her lifetime but she rolls with the punches.  She lives with Charlotte and J.V.  J.V. is a retired Baptist preacher.  I went to church with him when I was a kid.  He was always the kindest man and Charlotte is the perfect preacher's wife.  They have a lovely home that they built about 19 years ago.  When they built a house, they built a mother-in-law suite for J.V.'s mother at the time.  She passed away several years ago but it worked out well for Aunt Helen to move in recently.

The older I get the more I treasure these times with relatives.  Aunt Helen probably won't be around that much longer so I wanted to spend some time with her.  We all had a great visit!
