One step forward, two steps back!

When the installers left yesterday my floor looked like this.

Unfortunately the installer put the old refrigerator back into its place and hooked up the ice maker again, which was the culprit of the flooding to begin with!

Within a couple of hours there was water coming out from under the refrigerator and when we stepped on the boards nearby, the glue was coming out between the cracks!  Dang...can't I catch a break??

They are back this morning taking up the floor where the water got under it.  This will set them back a bit.  I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to make it through this project!!

Happy birthday to my great nephew Corbin!  He turns 2 today.  He lives in Honolulu while his dad is in the military so I don't get to see him.  They will be moving back to Alabama later this year and we are looking forward to seeing them again!

Happy weekend!

Kitchen progress

I've been missing the last few days.  I am "stuck" upstairs all day if I don't go out, so that was enough incentive to do some retail therapy.  I spent Tuesday in Memphis and finally hit the new Tanger Outlet Mall there.  I did some retail therapy locally yesterday.  I can only take so much banging, sawing, and men in my house!!

Here's the progress.

Nice pile of debris in the garage.  They are hauling it off little by little.

Don't think I'll be taking a bath anytime soon!

They left me just enough space that I can squeeze through to get to the coffee maker.

Here's the new floor going down.

I love it!!

Flooring is coming!

The flooring guys are supposed to come this morning to start the removal of the hardwood in the house.  We spent yesterday afternoon moving things...

Stuff stacked everywhere!

It means progress though!

We spent all day Saturday at the Amory Railroad Festival.  There was a big car show there.  I think there was around 250 cars.

It started off as quite chilly but warmed up and was a beautiful day for the first car show of the year.

Doug won a first place trophy.

Doug really couldn't care less about winning a trophy.  He's got many trophies that just clutter up his shop.  He actually missed being awarded the trophy as he thought his car was in a different class and when they called the winners and he wasn't one of them, he walked away.  Thankfully his friend Bo picked up the trophy and gave a presentation to Doug later.

Flowers are beginning to pop out here.

I love this time of year!

Kitchen update!

The kitchen is beginning to look like a kitchen again.  The dishwasher is not in and the new refrigerator will not come in until the floor is replaced.  The flooring guys are supposed to be here Monday morning and it should take a few days for that to be done.  Backsplash has to be installed and trim around the bottom of the cabinets and floor and it should be done!!!

So this weekend I will be packing up stuff so furniture can be moved.  This has been lots of work but I know I will be appreciative when it's all finished!

I am just about back to normal with my Bell's palsy.  I am SO fortunate to have had a light case.  My eye is actually closing and blinking now which is a huge improvement.  Thank you all for your prayers!

Have a fabulous weekend.  We are enjoying some beautiful, warm spring days.  I hear my family and friends up north are not so lucky!

Busy in the kitchen!

We are back from our trip and had a wonderful time.  I took very few pictures but it was a relaxing weekend and we ate some really good seafood!

My cabinet doors were installed on Friday while I was gone so I will be busy today loading the cabinets up again.  I'm so excited about getting that done!

Hope you all are enjoying spring, though I know in some parts of the country it is still winter!!  Things are really blooming here.  I wish I had time to work out in the yard but I've got to get this house put back together first!

Easter

We had a wonderful lunch at Karen and Ronald's in Red Bay after a great church service.  The sanctuary was packed, as it is just about every Sunday.  The music was great and it was a very inspiring service.

It was a sprinkly day but cleared up enough for the bigger kids to have an egg hunt outside.  This big kid helped hide the eggs.

This was just half the eggs.  Justin hid the other half.  As soon as the kids were released, they were off and running!

They all found a bunch of eggs!

Emma Taylor and Harrison were supposed to be with their dad but they asked him if they could go with us and he agreed.  So glad Ty and Jake could be with us too.

Luke had his own personal egg hunt inside.

We made it a little easier for him!

We are seeing signs of spring.  I love the beautiful dogwood trees that bloom every year around Easter.

I'm still feeling good.  The only thing that really bothers me is my eye.  I can't blink so it gets very dry which is an annoyance.  Otherwise I'm doing well and no complaints!

We are leaving in the morning for a weekend trip to Biloxi with several other couples.  Looks like tomorrow might be rainy but Saturday and Sunday look nice.  Looking forward to seeing the beach again!

Painting Easter Pottery

A couple of weeks before Easter I took the kids to paint pottery at Wet Paint.  Emma Taylor invited her friend Lexie.  Of course, they sat at a separate table and acted like they didn't know us!

Emma Taylor and Lexie chose bunnies.

The boys chose crosses this year.

Their pieces turned out really well.  Love this bunny!

Harrison is so creative with his cross...ha!  It turned out great though!

Cameron gets a little more colorful!

I gave each of the kids an Easter treat.  The boys got blue bunnies.

(I love my new countertop!)
