Northeast Trip - Day 5

Sorry that I haven't posted for the last couple of days but I have been sick with a cold and have just been taking it easy and staying in the recliner most of the time!  I didn't even go out for Cameron's football game this morning!  I THINK I'm beginning to feel a little better!

We started day #5 with breakfast at a little local place called Donna Jean's Diner.  That name just drew us in!

Delicious eggs benedict!

We drove to the Flume in Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire.  This picture was taken right by the entrance.  The trees were so pretty.

Right off the bat we passed through a beautiful covered bridge!

This sign gives an explanation of what the Flume is all about.

It was a two-mile walk/climb through the entire area.  Lots of steps too and many times we had to stop to rest a minute!

But there were beautiful views and scenery.

Some very pretty walking paths.

And another covered bridge which crosses the Pemigewasset River.

This is one of the oldest bridges in the state.

We drove the scenic route to Vermont.

More covered bridges along the way.  This is the Williard Twin Bridge in North Hartland, VT.

Can you see the other bridge through the first bridge?  I've never seen twin bridges like this!

Taftsville Covered Bridge in Woodstock, VT.

Also the Cornish-Windsor Bridge in Windsor, VT.  This bridge crosses the Connecticut River between Vermont and New Hampshire.

You sure wouldn't want to have to pay the $2.00 fine!

Somewhere along the way we passed this house with mini pumpkins decorating the top of the door frame.  People in the northeast really decorate their homes for fall.

Actually we saw several houses of this style decorated with mini pumpkins.  So cute!

We spent the night at the Sleep Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, VT.  It was a 60's type motel but had been renovated and was a pretty neat place!

We were directed to Romunto's for dinner.

It was in an old woolen mill.  The pizza was delicious!
