Old Tucson

Emma Taylor is on the archery team at school.  She has found a sport that she enjoys that doesn't require sweating!  She had a competition last night in Fairview.  It is the first time I've seen her shoot competitively.  There were two other schools competing and a whole line of them shoot at once.

How do you like that pink bow?  So cool!!

One day while we were out in Arizona we drove down to Tucson and spent part of the day in Old Tucson.

Old Tucson is an set location where many old westerns were filmed.  Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas...most people our age will remember them well!

Walking down the streets was like stepping back to the old west.

We took a ride on this stagecoach.  I don't know how people took a long trip in them.  It was quite uncomfortable!

We caught a couple of short shows.

We need to watch some of those old westerns and see if we recognize the set!

While we were in Arizona, our icemaker sprung a leak and with water all over the hardwood floor.  Thankfully Ben came in to bring the mail and was able to cut it off before it ruined the entire house, but it did ruin the hardwood floor and part of the cabinets and trim.

The good news is insurance is replacing the entire hardwood floor.  My house is very open and there's really no where to break the floor.  One thing leads to another so we're going to do a little updating in the kitchen.  My house is 16 years old so the updates are needed.  I'm looking to replace my countertops with granite or quartz.  If you have a suggestions or preference I'd love to hear it.  I'm also hoping to replace my appliances with stainless.  Anyone have suggestions on a particular brand that they liked or didn't like?  All I'm seeing in refrigerators is the French style with the freezer on the bottom...very few side-by-sides like we have now.  I'm thinking of going with wide plank hardwood in a darker brown than my current floor.  Again, if you have suggestions let me know.  Anybody local have a suggestions on where to get granite or quartz reasonably?  We looked yesterday and were in a bit of sticker shock!

It's really cold here.  Man, we are NOT used to this!

  1. When I was going to school in Ft. Huachuca, our school was out for a week and Max flew out to visit me. We went to Old Tucson and we really enjoyed our day. Lots to see out there.
