More Sisters' Trip and D.C.

Doug and I had a wonderful time in Branson last week.  We were busy doing lots of fun things!  As soon as I conclude this sisters' trip, I'll recap my Branson trip!

This was our view just outside our hotel room.  We were just a couple of blocks from the capitol.

We left our hotel and headed to Founding Farmers for breakfast.

Still celebrating!

We then headed over to the Capitol for a tour.  We had a great guide!

We had a "snack" at Ted's Bulletin.

We saw the yummy "pop tarts" being made as we entered.

Then spied the fabulous dessert case!

Such a cute place!

We all decided to have milkshakes and Karen and I split a pop tart.  We wish we had each gotten one of our own.  They're not like the pop tarts you buy in a box!

Yum!!

Then it was over to the White House.  Unfortunately we weren't able to get a tour booked so we were just able to view it from outside.

We had a little delay getting to the White House.  It seems the President was leaving and the helicopters were waiting for him.  Police were everywhere and streets blocked off until his helicopter departed.  It was cool watching it leave, along with another helicopter, knowing our president was in one of those helicopters!

We walked around the area, into gift shops and enjoyed the day.  Though it looks cold, it was very pleasant.

We had an early dinner at Old Ebbitt Grill.  It's the oldest restaurant in D.C.

I decided to pass on the Orca Platter at $159.99!  Instead I had crab cakes.

Dinner was delicious though!

After dinner we headed to Union Station to catch a trolley for our nighttime tour of the monuments.

Union Station is beautiful with a complete shopping mall inside it!

We boarded the trolley for the tour.

By this time it was really cold and the trolley had the side panels up!!

The Capitol and memorials were beautiful lit up.

It was a very full day but so enjoyable!

Ben left yesterday going to Houston, TX for a week of training so Cameron and Trip are staying with us this week.  It's been cold and rainy so far this week, with snow predicted for tomorrow!  I'm not ready for winter to arrive so soon and just hoping they don't have to cancel school tomorrow.
