It's just beginning to get light.
Once it starts, it only takes a few minutes for the sun to be entirely up. Thank goodness because it was really cold and windy that morning.
The view coming down the mountain along the Summit Road was beautiful!
The colors along the way were spectacular!
As beautiful as these pictures are, they cannot capture the color and beauty we saw! It was breathtaking and at every turn it was more beautiful!
We headed back to the hotel, got dressed, and went into Bar Harbor.
Everything is lobster along the coast of Maine.
And the only moose I saw on this trip, like my last trip to the northeast, wasn't real -- like this one on top of the building! We saws plenty of Moose Crossing signs, but no actual moose! :(
We had tickets for a noon cruise of the harbor on this small boat.
It was still quite cold and windy and water splashed up along the sides. This is what I looked like for most of the cruise -- when I wasn't inside!
We agreed that this would be more fun in the summer!
We saw some lovely homes of the rich and famous. I don't remember whose these were but Martha Stewart has a home up there somewhere!
These buoys were all over the water. The boat captain said those were lobster buoys. Each fisherman has a different color and pattern for their buoy so they can identify their traps.
They were everywhere!
We saw seals sunning themselves on the rocks.
And saw two beautiful lighthouses from a distance.
This is Bear Island Light.
Egg Rock Light.
We got back to Bar Harbor and had dinner at the Dog and Pony.
The clam chowder was delicious. I had it several times at different restaurants.
The lobster roll was delicious too. It's fresh lobster with just enough mayo to hold it together, served on a split bun like a hotdog bun but way better!
We decided we had to have blueberry pie since blueberries grow in Maine -- that was just an excuse!
We were too full after the lobster roll so we stopped by a bakery and picked up two slices to go.
We took the back roads to North Conway, New Hampshire where we stayed the night and indulged in our pie! The only thing that would have made it better was if it was warmed with ice cream!
