It's hard to capture it all in pictures. It is huge! The flowers were beautiful as we approached it.
You have to have a ticket to even walk up to the hotel. These ladies were responsible for being sure everyone had a ticket. Fortunately I had purchased tickets online when I purchased our ferry tickets.
I'm so glad I got us tickets because it was worth the $10 per person to go inside.
I wouldn't have wanted to miss this fabulous porch!
The rockers were so inviting so we decided to sit a spell.
This young lady was selling Cokes along the porch.
The inside of the hotel was very elegant.
We went up to the Cupola Bar for a drink.
Pat and I had the special Mackinac Island Sunrise.
Yummmo!
There was a great view of the grounds from there.
You probably can't see it in the picture but we could see the Mackinac Bridge to the right. There was a pool to the right as well.
Just outside the hotel we had a bellman snap a picture.
Pretty classy!
This old English phone booth was a nice addition to the property.
We went back into town and walked around. A very cool old market.
We stopped for Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream. Another yummmmo!
We made a stop in one of many fudge shops and watched them make fudge. Actually we stopped in several fudge shops to get samples and watch fudge being made. What an art!
Boy, did it smell good! We ended up buying it here.
Then it was time to catch the ferry back to Mackinaw City. What a beautiful island! I would love to go back and this time I think I'd stay on the island for a night or two!
I got the movie Somewhere in Time from our library and we watched it last night. It was set at the Grand Hotel. Worth watching just to see the hotel. It stars Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. Not a thriller but we enjoyed seeing it.
I love how you and Pat are dressed alike, right down to your shoes! So cute!
