We woke up to a cool 63 degrees this morning. After breakfast at the hotel, we drove 401 toward Detroit. It was a beautiful drive, very rural and lots of farms.
I love how the road signs have a crown on top.
Doug loved the 100 kilometers per hour speed limit but unfortunately it only translated to about 62 miles per hour. Fortunately he could switch the Jeep over to kilometers which made it much easier to maintain his speed.
Some of the road signs were in French.
We crossed the Ambassador Bridge into the USA and entered Detroit.
Back through the border again. More questions!
We drove directly to the Henry Ford Museum and took a guided one-hour tour. Then we were able to tour the museum unguided. It was a very interesting museum with something for everyone even if you aren't interested in cars.
We had lunch at Lamy's, an old diner inside the museum.
These are just a few of the interesting things we saw in the museum.
There was a whole row of presidential limos. It was interesting to see how they evolved.
You're all singing the Oscar Meyer Weiner song, aren't you?
Pat had an old Corvair like this blue one. I think it was her first car and we thought it was a sports car! I had a Cougar like the one behind it as my first car but it was metallic green. Loved that car!
Couldn't pass up this photo op!
We saw the movie Dream Big in the theater there. There was a lot of old footage which was quite interesting.
We checked into the Comfort Inn in Dearborn and went the short distance to Gus and Us for dinner.
We had a rather quiet weekend. Just how I like them!
